If you are finding yourself struggling to cope, feeling anxious or depressed - therapy can be tremendously helpful in these moments. Often in life we are never taught how to soothe ourselves in ways that are healthy and nurturing to our bodies and minds.
Dan Siegel defined the mind as “an embodied and relational process that regulates the flow of information”.
This means that while working with the mind it is also important to integrate the body and our interpersonal connections in order achieve optimal functioning. I work at the level of approaching mental health not just as a matter of the mind, but as a dynamic interplay between body, mind, emotions, relationships, and sometimes even spiritual experience. This integrative approach recognizes that psychological symptoms often have physical manifestations—and that healing can be deepened by including somatic awareness and regulation in the therapeutic process. I take into account experiences like complex trauma, early attachment issues, as well as physical and emotional recovery needs.
It is normal to have these struggles; we all feel this way at times.
